I’ve been a vegetarian my whole life and soup seems to still be one of those things that’s super difficult to for me to want to eat it again and again for days after I make it. I consider this one my first victory—Incredibly flavorful and hearty without all the fatty cream. I didn’t have almonds or tamari, so i topped mine with toasted pepitas and it was perfect. I’m currently carving all the soup so these look fab! Perfect way to kick off 2015!

  19. Elise says:

Wait?!? Somebody presented your chili as their own??? Not right! I amaze that one all te time during winter and my whole family loves it, even my suddenly picky 2 year old :) we also love love love the sweet potato kale soup, except I just cook a cup of brown rice and throw it in rather than using the Farro. Laziness drives me. Anyway, live your blog and alsways give you credit ;)

    1. Kate says:

Thanks, Elise! Hope your baby is sleeping well. Yes, it was crazy—a woman presented my chili as her own invention!

  20. Elise says:

Lots of typos there, holding my 3 month old late at night while she drifts off :)

  21. Lauren says:

Why do I not have a butternut squash?! Number 2 and 5 are calling my name! :-) We tried your black bean recently, and it was a hit, especially with my hubby.

Glad the husband enjoyed! Let me know if you make the squash ones :)

Wow! You have us set through the rest of winter!

    1. Kate says:

:) These will definitely help you ward off the chill.

  23. Giselle says:

I would love to see a healthyish dill pickle soup recipe. The recipe that I use is delicious but I feel guilty eating it. It contains a stick of butter, a cup of sour cream, potatoes, a cup of pickles and some pickle juice. Those ingredients don’t really add up to a healthy soup. :)

    1. Kate says:

Interesting! I’ll add it to my recipe requests list :)

  24. Olga says:

Wow, I guess this is how you make a soup look better than a steak! I will be definitelly trying these babies (especially the Vegeterian Pho and the west african peanut soup)!

    1. Kate says:

High praise, Olga! Let me know how they taste once you make them :)

  25. Minh Nguyen says:

those soups look mouth-watering and hearty. def will give them a try

  26. Nancy Fleming says:

    Hi, Kate,

I have been dying to find a great minestrone soup recipe, one with veggies, cannellini beans, and greens. Got one?

    Thanks!

    Nancy

    1. Kate says:

Hi Nancy! I have a recipe like that in my cookbook. I hate to keep it from you, but the book doesn’t come out until May 16th!

      1. Vanessa says:

I would buy that book for sure!! Congratulations you’re an inspiration for me

  27. Sarah says:

Yesss! A soup list! It’s supposed to snow all week so this couldn’t have come at a better time.

You should try to make a chilled raspberry (or cherry) soup recipie! There’s a art museum that serves a raspberry one in their cafe and its super good. I know they make theirs with raspberries, sour cream, yogurt, cinnamon and other stuff I can’t remember, maybe lemon juice? (if you are interested, I will ask again) I guess they base theirs off of an old Scandinavian recipie

    1. Kate says:

Now that’s an interesting idea! Thanks, Sarah. I just added it to my summer list!

  28. Sara @ Last Night's Feast says:

Kate, the African Peanut Soup is one of my favorites. It’s the first time I ever made anything in that flavor family, and now I’m obsessed with African/Indian/Moroccan cooking! I have a tupperware container of this in my freezer for when I’m craving it =)

Last time I made it, I added lentils.

    1. Kate says:

Ah, so happy you tried and liked it! I’m sure I’ll bring back many more recipes in this category after my trip to Morocco :) Stay tuned!

  29. Annie says:

These all look wonderful! I’m on such a Soup kick with the cold winter! Thanks

    1. Kate says:

Perfect timing, right? Let me know how they work out!

  30. Tessa | Salted Plains says:

I need to add all of these to my list. Got my eye on that curried cauliflower soup!

    1. Kate says:

Thanks, pal! Hope you love that one.

      1. Amanda says:

Hello! These recipes are exactly what I am looking for! I would just suggest fixing the mobile version of this website-it is terrible to navigate because the ad blocks half of the page and when i click out of it I’m brought to the lentil soup recipe every time. I can’t wait to try out the recipes though, thanks for posting!

  31. Vanessa says:

Amazing recipes. I love all of them. I love this blog, it’s exactly what I’m looking for. I eat like this. Keep the amazing work!!1 <3

  32. Jes says:

Made number 3 (curried sweet potato, farro and kale soup) for a big and varied crowd at my house tonight and it was a total hit. Love the sweetness and texture. Plus it was easy to prep ahead of time and cook when we got hungry. Very little time away from my friends, and a delicious meal!

    1. Kate says:

That sounds wonderful, Jes. I’m glad you were able to enjoy the party and the soup!

  33. Christo says:

  35. Cynthia G. says:

Not listed here but last night I did your Creamy Roasted Cauliflower soup from your book Love Real Food and it was delicious. Perfect soup on a cold winter’s night here in Montreal Canada. Thanks Kate!

    1. Kate says:

I’m happy to hear that! Thank you, Cynthia for sharing.

  36. Wendy says:

I am not a fan of quinoa. What would you use as a good substitute? Thanks!

    1. Kate says:

Hi Wendy! It depends on the soup and dish. Sometimes brown rice and be a good substitute, couscous, or even farro. But again, it depends on the recipe.

      1. Wendy says:

Thanks! I will play around with them. I got your book for Christmas and I am loving it!!! Everything I have tried has been amazing!

  37. Hala Hamam Bahouth says:

  39. Kay Nguyen says:

These all sound and look amazing! Thanks for sharing <3

    1. Kate says:

You’re very welcome, Kay! Let me know what you think as you try some. :)

  40. Leslie says:

These all sound wonderful but some of them have really high sodium content! Over 1500 mg for some for one serving? That’s a lot of sodium so I wouldn’t consider them “healthy”. :-(

    1. Kate says:

Hi Leslie, those nutrition facts were calculated with regular broth and beans, not low-sodium varieties, so you could easily reduce the sodium content by choosing those options. Nutritional needs, sodium threshold and concept of “healthy” can vary significantly on an individual level. The recipes are all made with healthy whole foods, and they more than qualify as healthy under my own definition!

  41. Monica McGregor says:

Kate, my New Year’s resolution is to finally get to strict veganism this year. I’ve been yearning for a good soup and now here are 17 of them, plus more from your book! Thank you so much for the inspiration!

Thanks so much, it’s been a nice treat for the new year!

    1. Kate says:

Thank you, Miranda for sharing! That’s great to hear.

  43. Katherine says:
